Snapshot: Exploring their ’Urban Rites of Passage’ program from Boys to Men with Manhood Academy

Season 1, Ep. 23

Welcome back to For The Creators, where it's our job to dissect creativity and the minds behind the things we love.

Today we have a snapshot episode, focusing on a London based community group called The Manhood Academy.

The MANHOOD ACADEMY for boys is a community based charitable programme committed to offering young men between the ages of 8 - 12 years (pre-teens), 13 – 19 years (teens) and 19 - 25 years, life-changing transformational workshops.

This programme is 100% focused on helping our young people (8-25year olds) make the challenging transition from adolescence to adulthood.

The unique ‘rites of passage’ programme is a fusion of mentoring and transformational coaching encompassing:

* Transformative workshops.

* Mentoring - which includes ensuring our young leaders receive intensive one-to-one life coaching and support from volunteers and coaches.

* A life changing ‘Coming of Age’ rites of passage ceremony.

Today we sit down with Brother Khonsu, one of 8 founders of The Manhood Academy and we discuss how the organisation was created, what positive impact it is having in a time when it is clearly needed and what is in store for the future. We even explore the parallels of the Black Panther character Killmonger and how his story relates to young men in todays society.

This episode is truly special and is one to play for your dad, brother, son, nephew and friends who will no doubt find something inspirational and actionable from this episode.
